Rahula

“Sometimes our light goes out but is blown into flame by an encounter with another human being. Each of us owes the deepest thanks to those who have rekindled this inner light.” Albert Schweitzer, member, Church of the Larger Fellowship, UU.

I draw from this quote warmth, in gratitude of all I gained from the fellow seekers I met at Midwest Leadership School. The expansive knowledge and inspiration from the lectures, the deep connections I made with scholars, students, indeed, seekers…all will shape me continuously and continuously.

But I also have to honor what I learned outside the curriculum, where I found myself in the company of a mystic. There’s no other word. I was content to be quiet when he spoke, while not easily in this state, it came so naturally—silence. Because the storytelling was exquisite, the truths immense, and the bullshit just fun. Smoke and mirrors I can navigate. I’m resourceful like that.  But that doesn’t mean I’m desensitized to the awe on the other side.

Rahula, the essential fetter in attaining essential truth.

What is it? What is the thing looking at the thought? The feeling? Who looks through the lens that provides my opinion? Not a mystic. A want to be human. I’ve lost myself, where have I gone? Who am I? Where am I? I am now a mother looking for her lost child! Love Ra
